An innovative and inclusive platform, truly accessible to all users: this is the new “Movie Lounge” launched inside Fiumicino airport thanks to the collaboration between Rai Cinema and ADR, the first ever in an Italian airport and among the first in Europe.
Equipped with around twenty seats, the Movie Lounge will be up and running by the end of 2022 allowing all passengers and the airport community to enjoy full film programming, including short films on current issues or with a social background , as well as unreleased docufilms. Through subtitles, audio descriptions and sign language made available by Rai Cinema, the contents will also be accessible to accessible to deaf, blind and visually impaired users. In addition to the enjoyment of traditional content, at certain times of the day, users will be able to experience virtual reality thanks to ten state-of-the-art devices.
The innovative project, aimed at a differentiated audience such as the one that frequents a busy airport hub, has an ambitious goal: spread and enhance film culture, responding to the multiple needs of today’s viewers, and give life to cultural hub in an unconventional place, a space where, moreover, cinema has often found the perfect setting to tell its stories.
