Known as the “Corsa dei Santi” (Race of the Saints) due to the date on which it takes place – All Saints’ Day on 1 November – this sporting event, organised by Missioni Don Bosco under the patronage of CONI - the Italian National Olympic Committee, celebrates its eighteenth edition this year, having grown steadily to involve thousands of participants.
Its route, which winds through Rome’s historic center, past squares, churches and stately buildings, and the presence of famous athletes alongside entire families out to enjoy the festivities – thanks to its combination of competitive and non-competitive categories – make it one of the most beautiful and beloved races in the world. The race is open to all athletes – champions, professionals, beginners and enthusiasts alike – who, divided into two categories, tackle a 9.5 km course starting and finishing in front of St Peter’s Square.
The race promotes the values of sport in keeping with the Salesian educational tradition and, every year, aims to raise the awareness of charity initiatives for humanitarian emergencies, supported by famous ambassadors (in recent years, these have included Fiona May, Marcell Jacobs, Sara Simeoni, gold-medal-winning sailor Caterina Banti and Olympic athlete Sofiia Yaremchuk). The 2026 charity project involves the construction of four wells in the Republic of the Congo to provide drinking water for 15,000 people.
