Curated by Ada Lombardi and organised by Assessorato alla Cultura di Roma Capitale, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and Fondazione Mattatoio di Roma - Città delle Arti, the free exhibition in Pavilion 9b of the Mattatoio Roma presents around one hundred works by Paolo Monti 37788, an eclectic and multifaceted artist who has always pursued interdisciplinary research, ranging from science to epistemology, and from philosophy to economics.
The works on display are representative of the main creative cycles developed by Paolo Monti starting in the mid1980s, bringing to light the significant role played by the artist on the Roman art scene as a figure who bridges different disciplines and different areas of research, not to mention various institutions. As a matter of facts, his work has involved scholars and scientific university departments, including the aerospace sector, to which the title of the exhibition refers.
Monti’s tie to the territory of Rome emerges with force, helping to strengthen the dialogue between art and science, notable inheritance of Italian culture and, in particular, of the Capitoline one. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey from the artist’s early works (such as the Money cycle, in which money loses its economic value to prompt reflection on transformation, encounter and dialogue) to his most recent projects, centered upon the relationship with the expansion of physical space and the use of satellites since 2006.
