The project emerges from a strong and coherent artistic vision: Chiara Capobianco – artist, curator, and originator of the conceptual and spatial framework – has conceived and created works specifically for this space, in dialogue with Michele Citro, curator ad affectum and critical counterpart. The exhibition establishes a direct and inseparable relationship with the Galleria delle Vasche, transforming it into an integral part of the narrative itself.
Architettura di una metamorfosi is a unified and immersive project exploring transformation as a permanent condition of existence: not a reassuring destination, but a state of continuous, fragile and unstable tension. Its inspiration draws from the Metamorphoses by Ovid, where fluid identities, desire, loss and resistance become tools through which to question the present.
At its core lies the female body, understood as a site of mutation and strength, compelled to redefine itself between external pressures and inner processes. Change is not celebrated, but revealed in its emotional and material complexity.
The exhibition unfolds as a physical and symbolic journey, structured into seven chapters conceived as open fields of exploration. There is no single interpretation: the works appear as fragments of a larger organism, in constant transformation.
The project enters into dialogue with the architecture of La Pelanda, within the complex of the Mattatoio, behind the Monte dei Cocci. The display, essential and rigorous, employs fabrics, suspensions, fragments and progressive openings; the recurring presence of black becomes both matter and memory.
The journey culminates in a monumental and collective finale. From the opening onwards, the artist will create an in situ live painting on a large-scale canvas (3.50 x 1.80 m), conceived as the exhibition’s visual and symbolic epilogue.
Not an exhibition to be absorbed in a single glance, but an experience to be revisited, as each chapter holds the possibility of a new discovery.
Architettura di una metamorfosi is curated by Chiara Capobianco (Capo.bianco) with Michele Citro, promoted by the Assessorato alla Cultura di Roma Capitale, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, and Fondazione Mattatoio di Roma – Città delle Arti.
