Just a credit, debit or prepaid card showing the contactless symbol, or an NFC-enabled card scanned on (short-range) devices, such as smartphones and smartwatches, and you can access all the metro stations of lines A, B / B1, C and of the Rome-Lido, Rome-Viterbo and Termini-Centocelle railways.
Approach your contactless card or the reader-enabled device, wait for the green light on the screen and the turnstile will open.
You can also continue your journey on the Atac surface transport vehicles (buses, trams and trolleybuses) up to the hourly validity of the ticket (100 minutes), but the journey has to start in one of the stations above.
The ticket price always applies the best fare, based on the trips made during the day. With just one tap at the turnstile you will be charged for a BIT ticket (1,50 €). After the fourth trip on the metro within 24 hours, the urban day ticket rate will be applied (7,00 €). The 24 hours of validity are calculated from the time of the first tap. For the "best rate" feature, the taps must always be made with the same card or the same electronic device.
