The Fairy Tale Garden 2026

The Fairy Tale Garden – between tradition and innovation, the multidisciplinary festival dedicated to Italian folk tales in dialogue with the languages ​​of the contemporary scene, returns for its seventh edition from July 9 to 26, 2026. Through theater, music, dance, literature, illustration, cinema, visual arts, and digital content, the project renews the fairy tale heritage of tradition—from Basile to Calvino—transforming it into a participatory, accessible, and engaging experience.

The program includes participatory theater, dance, and music workshops for children and families, traveling performances and storytelling, a bilingual show in Italian and English, a concert-performance, talks on the relationship between fairy tales, cinema, dubbing, illustration, and children's literature, a presentation of emerging authors, and an artistic residency for actors and actresses under 35. The festival's core program includes five performances resulting from the residency, taking place from July 24 to 26, 2026, at Villa Carpegna: three traveling shows dedicated to magic and transformations, funny and surprising fairy tales, and courageous princesses, along with two storytelling and puppet shows for early childhood. Rounding out the program are two permanent audio-video installations, "The Garden Tells", with QR codes and digital content—podcasts and cartoons—dedicated to the fairy tales performed at this year's festival.

The event, now in its seventh year, takes place at Villa Carpegna, Parco Commendone, and the Ex Campari Cultural Centre in Rome. It can be reached by the following means of transport:

- Ex Campari Cultural Centre: Metro A (Baldo degli Ubaldi) and buses 980, 981, 983, and 985 (Cornelia/Bistagno and Cornelia/Vallelunga stops)

- Parco Commendone: Metro A (Cornelia) and buses 46B, 546, 916, 981, and 983 (Commendone/Azzolino 1 stop)

The project, promoted by Rome Capital – Department of Culture, won the public tender Creative Rome 365. Culture all year round in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.
