The Botanical Garden Museum hosts the ninth edition of Classica al tramonto (Classic at sunset), the summer festival of classical, jazz, and electronic music organized by the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti.

This year's program, richer and more varied than ever, presents all musical languages in their most different forms. Among the tree-lined avenues of Largo Cristina di Svezia, in the heart of Trastevere, the 2026 edition stands out for its diverse offering, bringing together renowned international performers, emerging talents, and a fusion of historic genres and electronic sounds in one of the city's most evocative natural settings.

The program comprises seventeen events, and over the years it has consolidated its identity through the intersection of diverse artistic languages and the quality of its artistic offerings. Alongside chamber music, the core of the festival, there is also space for jazz, electronic music, audiovisual arts, and literature.

Among the most anticipated events is a concert by the Ensemble Enerbia, one of Italy's leading ensembles in the field of ancient and traditional music, which presents a popular repertoire including collective dances, serenades, wedding songs, and music associated with peasant festivals.

Jazz also takes the centre of the stage in this edition, with the Gianni Oddi Quartet paying homage to Miles Davis on the centenary of his birth with A Beautiful Miles. The Campus Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Massimo Nunzi, offers an evening featuring special appearances by Stefano Fresi and Cristiana Polegri.

We also remember Pangea, the project conceived by double bassist Pietro Leveratto, a creative laboratory in constant evolution that for this occasion takes the form of a quartet with Gabriele Mirabassi on clarinet, Francesco Zanotti on guitar, and Federico Chiarofonte on drums, performing an original repertoire.

The chamber music program is also extensive, spanning different eras and styles. We particularly highlight the debut at the Botanical Garden of Austrian pianist Martin Nöbauer, a finalist in the 2023 Chopin Competition on historical instruments in Warsaw, with Sturm, a program entirely dedicated to Beethoven. Alessandro Simoni also returns, starring in a recital that combines Bach's contrapuntal architecture, Beethoven's piano repertoire, and the contemporary sounds of Nikolai Kurbatov.

Another welcome return is that of the Shirvani Sisters, a cello and piano duo, with a program that compares different models of chamber music writing through works by Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Paganini.

The event thus confirms its position as one of the highlights of the Roman summer music season, showcasing one of the city's most fascinating venues through a multifaceted and transverse program.
