Until 15 March 2026, the House Museum Boncompagni Ludovisi presents Omaggio a Robert Redford. Moda Musica e Film (Homage to Robert Redford. Fashion, Music and Film), an exhibition dedicated to the iconic American actor who recently passed away.
Realised in collaboration with Sartoria Farani and Rufa - Rome University of Fine Arts, the exhibition, in direct dialogue with a film festival, intertwines visual and performing arts, highlighting the impact of cinema as a source of inspiration on everyday life. The famous artist marked a turning point in the history of film genres, such as Westerns and investigative journalism, shaping tastes, habits, and lifestyles through films that have entered the collective imagination, such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President's Men.
Curated by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte, Martina Casadio and Luigi Piccolo, the exhibition takes visitors on an evocative journey through cinema and fashion featuring a selection of clothes, mostly from the historical Roman tailor, that evoke stories and fascination from Robert Redford's films: from the romantic scenes of The Great Gatsby to the exploits of the two protagonists of The Sting, from the authentic landscapes of Out of Africa to the casual elegance of Three Days of the Condor, highlighting the distinctive features of an artist with a discreet charm, independent and original, and far from the stereotypes and roles of the Hollywood star system.
Scheduled from January to March 15, the film festival is the result of a collaboration with the Rome University of Fine Arts and its Director, Fabio Mongelli, and is curated and introduced by film historian Raffaele Simongini.
The screening schedule can be consulted from January 10 on the website of the Direzione dei Musei nazionali di Roma and on the social media channels.
