The Corsa dei Santi (“Race of the Saints”) includes a competitive race and a non-competitive 10 km road race, the first edition of the Giro delle 4 Basiliche (“Tour of the Four Basilicas”, a competitive race covering a distance of 19.5 km) and the Staffetta della Pace (“Peace Relay”).
Called the Corsa dei Santi because it takes place on 1st November, All Saints' Day, this beloved sporting event is now in its seventeenth year.
The Corsa dei Santi was created to:
- give visibility to the celebration of All Saints' Day as a popular festival;
- bring solidarity to the forefront;
- promote the values of sport according to the Salesian educational tradition.
The route winds through Rome's Historic Centre, passing squares, churches and noble palaces, and the presence of athletes competing alongside entire families celebrating makes it one of the most beautiful races in the world.
The 2025 edition is a special edition created specifically to celebrate the Jubilee. In fact, in addition to the usual 10 km route, you can tackle the big new feature of 2025, the evocative route connecting the four great Roman basilicas: St. Peter's in the Vatican, St. Paul's Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major, and take part in the Relay for Peace, commemorated by a collector's medal.
Professional and amateur athletes, champions and beginners, with prestigious or completely normal performances, whether or not they are present in national and international rankings, are invited to the race.
The canonical route of 10 kilometres begins at Piazza Pio XII, reaches Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Via del Corso in a loop that ends with the arrival at Piazza Pio XII.
The route of the four basilicas, on the other hand, covers a distance of 19.5 kilometres, passing through Piazza Pio XII, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Viale Aventino and Via Ostiense towards the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, then the Pyramid of Cestius towards the Cathedral of Rome, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, and the Imperial Forums, the beating heart of ancient Rome, Via del Corso and on towards the conclusion of a route unique in the world in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
The programme may be subject to change.
