Japan Days at the Capannelle Hippodrome

The Japan Days return to Rome on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September at the Capannelle Hippodrome for two days dedicated to the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun, combining tradition and modernity, with the sounds, aromas and flavours of Japan, with over 100 exhibitors in the Market Area and a Food Area, rich with traditional dishes, such as onigiri, soba, mochi, gyoza and much more.

This year's program is richer than ever: creative workshops for children, martial arts demonstrations—kendo, iaido, jodo and other sports - ikebana, origami, shodo, kintsugi, kokedama, manga drawing, calligraphy workshops, Japanese language and watoji bookbinding classes, and much, much more. Among the unmissable performances are the Kimono Tales with master Fumiko Oh, the Taiko Drums with the Taiko Trio, the Samurai Comedy Theater - Kyogen - and the Ghibli World live show featuring the beautiful voice of Erika San.

The special guests include the beloved Chef Hiro on Sunday the 21st at 4:00 PM with a live cooking show dedicated to yakisoba and a Meet & Greet featuring a dedication to his book, Ichigo Ichie. Also on Sunday, Clara Serina – the legendary voice of the Knights of the King – will be the protagonist with a talk, a mini concert at 5:30 PM, and an autograph session for fans. Live cooking shows are also back: on Saturday the 20th at 1:00 PM, award-winning chef Gabriele Seprano will prepare yakitori, while on Sunday the 21st at 12:00 PM, renowned sushi chef Micaela Giambanco (Mikachan) will prepare dorayaki and lead two workshops on Studio Ghibli cookies (limited places, reservations required).

The street artists Funkamore and Smine will also be present, along with J-pop and K-pop performances, and One Piece and Magic: The Gathering-themed tournaments. The Paths Area will feature matcha tea and sake tastings, while the Wellness Area will offer shiatsu massages by certified therapists. Cultural talks and conferences on anime, manga, Japanese folklore, spirituality, and much more are also scheduled. A highlight is the brand-new Speedy Bookclub, hosted by the Cartacanta bookstore, featuring literary talks and prizes for participants.
