A Fil di Spada - XV edizione

The spectacular fencing event takes place in a ‘marathon’ in the shadow of the Pantheon with the 15th edition of ‘A Fil di Spada’ – Enzo Musumeci Greco Memorial.

A Fil di Spada is one of the most evocative events on the international scene, bringing together athletes, enthusiasts and curious onlookers in the name of sport and socialising, bridging generations, skills and cultures in a truly global event.

The event, unique in its kind, transforms one of the most iconic places in the world into an open-air fencing strip where swordfighting becomes spectacle, culture and inclusion: Olympic, Paralympic and blind swordsmen come together to send a single message, that of sharing through sport.

On the occasion of World Fencing Day 2025, A Fil di Spada is once again a symbol of the unifying and universal power of this discipline, which for fifteen editions has attracted fencers from all over the world and thousands of spectators.

No registration or prior notification is required to participate in the event: just show up, pick up your weapon and step onto the strip. All participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt, while those who wish will be able to use the changing rooms of the Accademia d'Armi Musumeci Greco, a few metres from the square, where guided tours of the Casa Museo Accademia d'Armi Musumeci Greco and a themed photography competition with dedicated rules and prizes will also be organised.

Numerous authorities and guests from the world of sport and culture will speak during the afternoon. The event is organised by the Accademia d'Armi Musumeci Greco, with the patronage of leading civil and sporting institutions, headed by the Federazione Italiana Scherma (Italian Fencing Federation) which, following a decision by the Council chaired by Luigi Mazzone, is supporting this historic 15th edition, which ideally opens the new season on the piste.

The event will be hosted by maestro Renzo Musumeci Greco and sporting legend Novella Calligaris.
