Rome hosts the Lipedema World Congress: experts from around the world come together to tackle an underdiagnosed, multifactorial and complex disease
From 5 to 8 November 2025, Fiera Roma will host a high-level international scientific event: the Lipedema World Congress, a global congress dedicated entirely to lipedema, a chronic and still little-known condition that mainly affects women, causing painful accumulations of adipose tissue in the legs, gluteus and arms.
Promoted by the Lipedema World Alliance in collaboration with Fiera Roma and in conjunction with Welfair 2025, the congress brings together the world's leading experts in an unprecedented multidisciplinary discussion. Speakers and delegations from all over the world (more than 30 countries) are expected to attend, with large numbers coming from Germany and Brazil, where research and awareness of the issue have made great strides.
The goal is ambitious but necessary: to network, share knowledge and advance the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of lipedema.
The programme includes sessions dedicated to the latest discoveries in pathophysiology, new diagnostic and imaging techniques, surgical and non-surgical treatments, rehabilitation strategies, personalised approaches and person-centred care models.
The Lipedema World Congress also aims to raise awareness and clinical dignity for a condition that is still greatly underestimated. Lipedema can affect up to 18% of the female population, but it is often confused with obesity or simple water retention, delaying diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Healthcare professionals, specialists from all disciplines, researchers, physiotherapists, nutritionists, representatives of associations and patients are invited to take part in a global dialogue to promote knowledge, innovation and care.
