The Maestro Rinaldo Alessandrini, one of the most prestigious interpreters of the Baroque repertoire, together with the Orchestra and Choir of Santa Cecilia and an international cast, takes the podium at the Auditorium Parco della Musica to offer us this splendid concert, part of the Symphonic Music Season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, featuring all the beauty of the music of Vivaldi and Bach. The program includes the Introduction to the Dixit Dominus "Canta in prato, ride in fonte" RV 636, the Dixit Dominus RV 595 (from Prague), and the Concerto di San Lorenzo RV 556 by Antonio Vivaldi, along with the Symphony from the Cantata BWV 174 and the Magnificat BWV 243 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The opening pieces of this concert express the "festive splendour" of Antonio Vivaldi's music, a sumptuous blend of vocal virtuosity and contrapuntal density, along with "sparkling" melodies, with surprising harmonic contrasts and modulations, the brilliant and transparent orchestration, focused on the strings, that distinguishes all the music of the "red priest”.
We find the same energy and variety of timbre in the famous Magnificat and the Symphony from the Cantata BWV 174 by J. S. Bach, a master of counterpoint, whose compositions, despite their complexity, contain all the characteristics of a music conveying deep emotions, especially in sacred works.
