The famous American dancer and choreographer returns to Rome with Open, the suggestive multimedia show that lands on the stage of the Teatro Olimpico, guest of the season of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana.
The short, ironic, disorienting, amusing scenes, the lights, the costumes and the video projections, skilfully harmonised with classical music by Bach, Chopin, Strauss, Debussy, are mixed with contemporary dance in a weave of bodies and stories that enhance the stylistic signature of Ezralow, historical member of Momix.
Open is a hymn to life and all that it brings: joy, love, anger, pain, essential feelings embodied on stage by a totally renewed cast that sees the young and talented dancers from Amici di Maria De Filippi's talent factory give new energy and lifeblood to Ezralow's choreographies.
Artists that the Italian public has already loved and applauded such as Samuelino Antinelli, Claudia Bentrovato, Oliviero Bifulco, Miguel Chavez, Mimmina Ciccarelli, Rosa Di Grazia, Christian Stefanelli and the extraordinary participation of Klaudia Pepa.
Open was born in Los Angeles in 2012 and debuted in Italy in November of the same year, before touring the main Italian theatres. In 2016 it debuted in the United States, returning to the stage on several occasions until 2021.
Co-written by Daniel Ezralow and Arabella Holzbog, his wife, Open is a patchwork of small stories with effect numbers, multimedia, irony and humour, in the name of pure entertainment, between emotional intensity and technical mastery.
The minimalist set design consists of four panels on which are projected visual pictures and moving vignettes where the dancers combine neoclassical language and modern dance, while Ezralow addresses his invitation to the audience: open up to the world, to life, to love, plan to be surprised.
