In the show at the Ghione Theater, Van Gogh's life (1853-1890) and art take shape through images, films, visions, interpreted readings of some letters written by the painter to his beloved brother Theo.
Written, directed and performed by Mirko Baldassarre, the pièce gives us back that deep resonance Vincent van Gogh reproduced on the canvas with the power of pure colour, applied with impetus, with thick, intense and mellow brushstrokes with tormented shapes recalling spirals or outstretched flames towards the sky, swirls of colors and shapes. What emerges is a formidable imagination and restlessness that explodes in bright reds, warm oranges, pale lilacs, Indian yellows, cobalt blues and in the contemplation of the miracle of nature with its wheat fields and starry nights. The same nature which sometimes represents peace and serenity, other times instead it appears terrible and threatening, in front of which all the fragility of man emerges in the presence of the immensity of the universe.
