Roma città aperta: una nuova dimensione per l’arte contemporanea

Elena Bellantoni
21 Avril 2021

The citation of the title of the famous film by Roberto Rossellini is the basis of the project, conceived by the Nomas Foundation and curated by Raffaella Frascarelli and Sabrina Vedovotto, which suggests that the link between past and future is indissoluble and still echoes in the present. Past as the reconstruction after the liberation from the Nazi fascist dictatorship; present as redesigning the country's future beyond the pandemic.

Entirely free and non-profit, roma città aperta is the beginning of a new way of living and enjoying art, an aesthetic experience, and a socio-cultural laboratory between forms of active citizenship and enhancement of the living heritage made up of female and contemporary artists. But it is a relational experience in which contemporary art is considered a common and shareable good. For this reason, roma città aperta marks the beginning of a mapping of the over 100 artists and artists who live and work in Rome and invites them to open the doors of their ateliers, real workshops of art and making art, where you can discover how their research is born and takes shape.

Thanks to the collaboration with the neighborhood associations and the active involvement of the Municipalities, you can carry out a path of visits to the studios of the artists by booking by sending an e-mail to rca@nomasfoundation.com choosing from those available on the calendar that it will be communicated and shared as soon as the DPCM allows for visits in person.

During the live visit, you can access the artist's studio, interact and observe his work, immerse yourself in the materials he uses, discover the research he is working on.

A series of docufilms dedicated to each artist participating in the project, in Italian and subtitled in English, is accessible from the roma città aperta website and on the Youtube channel of the Nomas Foundation.
