Diana Lelonek- Pastificio Cerere

The exhibition, the first in Italy of the Polish artist Diana Lelonek, is presented by the Pastificio Cerere Foundation in collaboration with the Polish Institute of Rome, and is the result of Diana Lelonek and the curator Jakub Gawkowski stay at the Pastificio Cerere in January 2020.

The artist, through the medium of photography, the use of mold and objects considered garbage, wants to offer a critical vision of overproduction and unlimited growth.

Relying on an interdisciplinary research inspired by natural sciences and eco-activism, it underlines the matter of the human impact on nature and the end of anthropocentrism, intended as a geological age in which our planet is deeply affected by man.

The exhibition itinerary, between the upper space of the silos and the underground one of the Spazio Molini, presents the results of the research conducted by the artist in two places geographically distant from each other: Upper Silesia, a Polish industrial region, and alpine glaciers of the Rhone, where Lenolek places at the center of an environmental sound installation.

Working with image and sound, Diana Lelonek focuses on cultural rituals related to nature and their stories that provide information on a past before man, on the present environmental crisis, and on the uncertain future of the Earth.
