The eclectic Fountain of the Frogs in piazza Mincio is beeing restored, under the technical-scientific direction of the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali.
After a preparatory phase for interventions to consolidate the foundations soil, began last March,in these days the restoration work has started on the basins and the sculptural group. The project is the first one since the fountain was inaugurated in 1927 and it will end at the beginning of Spring next year.
Designed by the architect Gino Coppedè, together with the surrounding buildings in the small and amazing district of the same name, the Fountain, so named for the twelve frogs that adorn it, represents an admirable and structured sculptural work, contrasted with the aquatic water games: placid of the pond and exuberant of the upper jet.
