Andrea Rea Trio/El Viajero

The pianist Andrea Rea presents his new album El Viajero (The Traveler) at the Casa del Jazz, together with the double bass player Daniele Sorrentino already present in his debut albums and with the drummer Lorenzo Tucci, considered one of the leading names of jazz in Italy.

The common thread that binds the pieces is the figure of the traveler (el viajero of the title) and the distant places that the Neapolitan pianist has visited, deciding to tell them. In the eight pieces (including three original compositions) we find a tribute to the music of South America (that of Carlos Aguirre, Martin Rojas and Hamilton De Hollanda for example), which represents a constant influence in Rea's works, or the nostalgia for music by David Bowie. El Viajero is therefore a kind of journey through the cultures of different countries, in which the jazz tradition acts as a support to a personal language influenced by different genres.

A musician from Campania and Roman by adoption, Andrea Rea is one of the best known names in the jazz world. He has been collaborating for years alongside many musicians including: Stefano Di Battista, Dianne Reeves and John Patitucci, just to name a few.
