The Casino Nobile of Villa Torlonia hosts RAMI, the exhibition of site-specific works by the artist Veronica Montanino, curated by Maria Grazia Tolomeo.
The artist concentrates on remix and camouflage and put at the centre of her research the metamorphosis, recalled by the mythological frescoes of the villa, referring to the stories of Apuleius, among which are those of Cupid and Psyche.
To Montanino, the metamorphosis is the "regulating principle" of her "mixing again": the artist transforms different materials into a process of "ecology of the image" which gives rise to a kind of new nature of her invention. Although a reference to nature, the intertwined branches are not ready-made or a tribute to the Poor Art tradition. They are objects from the chamber of wonders, plants that, looking closely, also appear animals, life forms of the earth and, at the same time, of sky and water - the ordinary and extraordinary.
Since 2000, the Roman artist has exhibited her artworks, characterized by a "green" attitude and lively use of colour, and has created dozens of site-specific installations in historic buildings, museums and environmental spaces, such as the "Chamber of Wonders" at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive - Museo Carandente (2010), Casa dell'Architettura in Rome (2013), MARCA Museo delle Arti di Catanzaro (2018), MAAM Museo dell’Altro e dell’Altrove di Metropoliz ( 2012-2014), and the Floating Garden at Regent's Park in London (2015).
The exhibition is part of Romarama, the cultural programme by Roma Capitale – is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita culturale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and organised by Studio d’Arte Campaiola.
