The world of comics and the world of jazz meet in Jac in Jazz, with the great artistic talent of Benito Jacovitti and the engaging swing of the Francesca Tandoi Quartet featuring Daniele Cordisco, with an exceptional guest, the saxophonist Max Ionata. The event was born from an idea of the musician and artistic producer Luca Ciarla and is an original tribute to one of the greatest cartoonists of all time.
Born in Termoli in 1923, Jacovitti entered the collective imagination with his school diaries and the characters such as of Cocco Bill, the protagonist of the legendary 1960s Carosello. Jac or "Fishbone" (his pseudonyms) loved jazz and enjoyed playing the drums. Sometimes he drew while listening to music and keeping time with the hi-hat pedal.
The event, hosted at the Casa del Jazz, is a Violipiano Music production, created in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, the Termoli Jazz Festival and the precious artistic support of Michele Macchiagodena, Edgardo Colabelli, Silvia Jacovitti and the House Museum dedicated to his father.
