The new campaign launched by Atac, the transportation company of the Municipality of Rome, in collaboration with Coripet (Consorzio per il Riciclo del PET - PET Recycling Consortium), rewards the adoption of responsible and eco-sustainable behaviour, implementing a circular economy model and encouraging recycling by users. The concept behind the initiative, the first of its kind in Italy, is as simple as effective: plastic bottles in exchange for free tickets.
As an experiment, in the next 12 months all users that will bestow PET bottles to the three compactor machines installed in San Giovanni and Cipro underground station of line A and in Piramide underground station of line B, will be rewarded for their responsible attitude. Users will receive in their B+ MyCicero and TabNet e-wallet €0,05 for each recycled bottle.
The ecobonus can be accumulated limitless and ticket price will be reduced 5 minutes after inserting bottles. Price reduction will be applied on one or more tickets (BIT, 24/48/72h and monthly ticket).
The system is easy to use: just select on your smartphone the +Ricicli +Viaggi button on one of the two apps, and insert the PET bottles: the eco-bonus is immediately credited to your personal account, ready to be used to purchase tickets. The technological innovation was achieved thanks to the collaboration of partners MyCicero and TabNet who developed the system and who finance the eco-bonus throughout the experimental phase. All the bottles collected in the three underground stations will become new bottles: recycling is worthwhile, not only for the environment.
