The smart helmet lands in Fiumicino

Smart helmet
from 12 May 2020 to 31 December 2020

Fiumicino Airport is preparing for Phase 2 by introducing, first in Europe, a new health surveillance measure: the Smart Helmet that measures temperature remotely.

The Smart Helmet is, essentially, a portable helmet-shaped thermal scan with a flat-screen which, thanks to augmented reality and high-resolution images, allows the operator who wears it to measure the body temperature of people passing through terminals, up to a distance of 7 meters. In the event of feverish symptoms above 37/37 and a half Celsius degrees, an invitation to undergo a medical check-up is provided.

It all starts with a 60 thermal scan, and soon another 30 will be added.

To ensure a sterile and safe environment and avoid any bacterial load inside the airport, the sanitization of the environments and the availability of sanitizing gel dispensers will be enhanced. Instructions and information will be implemented on service monitors, maxi screens, information totems, and brochures.
