The IILA-International Italo-Latin American Organisation presents an exhibition of the projects of the winner and finalists of the XII PHOTO IILA, an award dedicated to Latin American photographers under 35 years of age, created in collaboration with the Latin American countries that are members of the IILA.
The photographers taking part in the 12th edition of the award were confronted with the theme "Siamo ciò che mangiamo", inspired by one of the 17 United Nations Development Targets that are part of the 2030 Agenda, number 2, which aims to "end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture". IILA, as a UN Observer, takes these issues forward in its work.
The exhibition includes photos by Santiago Carmona (Colombia), winner of this twelfth edition with a project realised between 2018 and 2020, entitled Exceso de abundancia, as well as works by finalists Pablo Sosa (Uruguay), Honourable Mention with the project Ensayo sobre soberanía of 2020; Eric Javier Markowski (Argentina), author of the project Lo que en la carne se conserva of 2016-2017; Ana Caroline de Lima (Brazil), author of a project carried out between 2015 and 2019; Cristian Torres (Colombia), with the project "Bodegones, caminos y cocinas" of 2019 and Carlo Tello (Mexico), with the project "Sentle" of 2020.
In accordance with the rules, the winner Santiago Carmona will carry out a month-long residency during which he will develop a photographic project on the city of Rome. The project will be presented in the next edition of the Prize, as in the case of Julieta Pestarino (Argentina), winner of the previous edition of PHOTO IILA, who will exhibit Últimas luces (2019) this year.
