Again this year, the awaited RomaOstia Half Marathon is back. Over the distance of 21.097 km, the race makes an appointment, at times to define and departures with various waves, at the Palazzo dello Sport in the EUR district towards Ostia, where, on Piazzale Cristoforo Colombo, is the finish line.
The RomaOstia Half Marathon boasts a very fast course; the first 3 km are in the EUR district, and the it heads directly through the pine trees of Via Cristoforo Colombo up to the sea.
Specifically, from Largo Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, you pass on Viale dell'Umanesimo, Via del Ciclismo and return towards Largo Ataturk, passing through Viale della Tecnica and then on the roads already traveled by previous editions (Viale dei Primati Sports and Viale Oceano Pacifico) and, therefore, through Via Cristoforo Colombo, reach the sea, up to the famous "Rotonda" of Ostia.
The awaited half marathon, now in its 48th edition, was born on 31 March 1974 as the Italian interbank championship of "marathon"; the distance to travel was, at the time, no less than 28 kilometres.
The Roma-Ostia Half Marathon is one of the longest-running races on our peninsula and one of the most attended. The route, loved by runners, who, along the road that leads to the sea, achieved their records, is mostly flat.
Inserted in the IAAF international and FIDAL national calendars, today, the race represents the only competition in Italy that can boast of the prestigious World Athletics "Gold Label".
The RomaOstia Half Marathon is organized by the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani – GSBRun, in partnership with RCS Sports & Events, under the aegis of the IAAF and FIDAL, with the patronage of Roma Capitale and the Regione Lazio.
Variations are possible in compliance with state and federal regulations (FIDAL) in force at the time of the event.
