Perfectly leavened and made from a perfect blend of top-quality ingredients: at the Salone delle Fontane in the EUR district, the most iconic Christmas cake is once again the star of Panettone Maximo, the National Festival of Artisan Panettone, now in its seventh year.
The program, which is always very rich, reproposes the format that has ensured the event’s success to date. The fulcrum is the competition between pastry shops and bakeries from all regions of Italy, evaluated by a jury of experts in the field, called upon to decide on the “best panettone in Italy” in the “traditional” and “chocolate” categories. In addition to the foreign press and public awards and the “best packaging” and “best digital communication” categories, since last year a special award has been given to the “best gourmet panettone” made by chefs and pizza makers, who are required to present their leavened product and the complete recipe, with ingredients and weights.
The panettone cakes in the competition can be sampled at the Christmas Market stalls alongside other typical festive food and wine specialties: wines and sparkling wines, bitters and spirits, truffles, hazelnuts, nougat and chocolate in various forms, perfect for creating a high-quality and delicious Christmas hamper. The event program also includes unmissable cooking shows with renowned pastry chefs from leading Michelin-starred restaurants and games and entertainment at the Christmas Village, where elves and Father Christmas await younger guests.
Last but not least, panettone cakes will be donated to charities that help children in need.
