Festival della letteratura di viaggio - 13th edition

From geography to anthropology, from philosophy to history, from literature to journalism, from photography to cinema, from music to comics and gaming: fifty events dedicated to the different forms of travel narration. Now in its 13th edition, the Festival della letteratura di viaggio tells the world near and far through various forms of narration of places and cultures.

The approximately 100 national and international writers present at the event are guests of some of the most prestigious places in the Capital, including Palazzetto Mattei in Villa Celimontana, Casa delle Letterature, and Palazzo Merulana.

Among the authors of this edition: Dacia Maraini, Umberto Galimberti, Luca Mercalli, Lucio Caracciolo, Paolo Di Paolo, Andrea Riccardi, Tim Parks, William T. Vollmann, Paweł Smoleński, Rene Maisner Kapuścińska, Lorenzo Cremonesi, Alberto Negri, Gabriele Micalizzi, Marica Di Pierri, Caterina Bonvicini, Maura Gancitano, Marilù Oliva, Attilio Brilli, Giuseppe Culicchia, Matteo Nucci, Giuseppe Catozzella, Paolo Pecere, Federico Pace, Pietro Del Soldà, David Monacchi, Eleonora Marangoni, Lorenzo Pavolini, Fabio Viola, Niccolò Scaffai, Alessandro Vanoli, and Gianluca Caporaso. Also present are Unesco, Survival International, Fridays for Future, Casetta Rossa, Legambiente, Lonely Planet Italia, Touring Club Italiano, IED, and many others.

The events celebrate the centenary of the birth of Giorgio Manganelli and Pier Paolo Pasolini, the 50 years since the publication of Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, the 150 years since Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, the 500th anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the globe by Magellan told by Antonio Pigafetta, the 50th anniversary of the Unesco World Cultural and Natural Heritage Convention.

The event also offers two exhibitions and workshops for all ages dedicated to creative writing, reporting, environment and nature. Don’t miss the literary walks, the multicultural urban trekking, the mathematical walk, and the archeo-cycle ride on the GRAB/Grande Raccordo Anulare delle Bici.

Except for workshops, all events have free admission subject to availability with recommended reservation.
