Why do we love Rome? There are those who cannot help but return to pay homage to the millennial history of the Colosseum or the majestic perfection of St. Peter’s, those who get lost in front of its grandiose Baroque settings and those who simply remain enchanted by the colors of the city and its streets, from the ivory of the travertine to the pink or ocher of its buildings. Whatever the reasons of one’s heart, from 20 January to 10 February, supporters and loyal visitors, professional travelers and beginners can vote to choose Rome as the “2021 European Best Destination”, a sort of Academy Awards for travelling contested every year by the main European tourist destinations.
The twenty candidates are selected by the central jury of European Best Destinations, an independent organization based in Brussels and developed to promote culture and tourism in Europe through its portal, in partnership with major tourism offices and the EDEN Network created by the European Commission. In the last edition, the initiative saw the participation of over 600,000 users. Up for grabs, in addition to the prestigious recognition, there is a promotion campaign for the whole year on the EBD portal and social channels and on the most visited websites dedicated to tourism in Europe, with a substantial coverage right across all the various media, including the main national newspapers, specialist press and television channels. Voting takes place exclusively online.
