VIA APPIA. The road that taught us to travel

VIA APPIA. La strada che ci ha insegnato a viaggiare-Foto:sito ufficiale del Parco Archeologico dell'Appia Antica

The Capo di Bove Complex, on the fourth mile of the Appia Antica, hosts the immersive exhibition entitled Via Appia. The road that taught us to travel which leads the viewer along a path between past and present, in a story through evocative images, with the wonderful photographs taken by Andrea Frazzetta during his journey that took him from Rome to Brindisi, for the National Geographic reportage “Reviving the Road to Rome”, edited by Nina Strochlic.

The visitors, accompanied in headphones by the story of Giovanni Carrada - RAI author for Superquark and Noos. The adventure of knowledge, as well as an expert in the dissemination and communication of cultural heritage - and guided by the voices of Francesco Prando in the Italian version and Edwin Alexander Francis in the English version, attend the immersive projection on a double screen, created under the direction of Raffaella Ottaviani , where they are involved in a fascinating journey on the Regina Viarum between archaeology, landscape, people and stories. Thus we start from the Roman paving stones, flanked by monumental tombs and the remains of the grandiose imperial villas along the 540 kilometers that separate Rome from Brindisi, among the galleries of the amphitheater of Capua, in the wheat expanses of what was once Campania Felix, among the wind fields, olive groves and ravines; among the enchantment of the colors and light of Taranto where the gaze, finally reaching Brindisi, opens up to Greece and the East. The photographer's journey thus becomes a journey accessible to all, rich in monuments and testimonies, which leads into beauty and history.

The exhibition is promoted by the Appia Antica Archaeological Park - Ministry of Culture
