(meaning “observing the flowers”) is the traditional Japanese custom of enjoying flowering cherry trees, or sakura. This custom is echoed here in Rome each year, specifically at Lake Park in EUR, where towards the end of March (usually around March 15-25) the flowering begins of the sakura (Japanese cherry trees) donated by the city of Tokyo.

Every year visitors gather together beneath the sakura to see the wonderful display of bloom and savour a substantial picnic.
