In just under a year, Rome will host for the first time the International Golf Travel Market, which will be held from 17 to 20 October 2022 at Nuova Fiera Roma, the Sheraton Parco de’ Medici Rome Hotel and the Cinecittà studios. The IGTM is the most important event for the promotion of golf tourism at an international level and every year attracts over 1,200 buyers and sector operators. The event’s arrival in the city is a further step on the way to the Ryder Cup 2023, the most prestigious international golf competition and the third most followed sporting event in the world, that will be held at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Guidonia (Rome).
Rome’s candidacy as hosting venue was supported by ENIT (National Tourism Agency) in synergy with the Italian Golf Federation, the Lazio Region, the Convention Bureau of Rome and Lazio and the Fiera di Roma. The assignment to the city represents a unique opportunity to relaunching tourism in Lazio, making it more competitive on an international scale and highlighting the beauty of the area. The economic and tourist success of the sporting events that have taken place in the city in recent years is proof of how tourism and sports represent a winning combination. Golf tourism, in particular, is a rapidly expanding niche that has always stood out for the economic benefits it produces by attracting visitors, golf experts and enthusiasts.
