Tourism, sport and culture: Phase 2 initiatives and measures

Piazza del Campidoglio
desde 4 Mayo 2020 hasta 31 Julio 2020

Since last March, the Capitoline Administration has adopted numerous measures in implementation of the Prime Minister’s decrees to contain the spread of Coronavirus. Below are the main measures of Phase 2, launched on 4 May, and new updates.

Romapass cards, P-Stops and Tourist Infopoints: the sales of the Roma Pass cards are still suspended pending the completion of the reopening plan of the museums and archaeological sites belonging to the Roma Pass circuit. Those who purchased a Roma Pass with a pick-up date within the time period regulated by the procedures mentioned above, can write to info@romapass, indicating the order number and the pick-up code. Until further notice, the P-Stops (toilets integrated with tourist reception facilities) and the Tourist Infopoints are closed. Work is currently underway on a safety plan to protect operators and users, aimed at guaranteeing the reopening of the structures in question in accordance with the provisions envisaged by the legislation. For tourist information, it is possible to call the Contact Center 060608, active every day from 9 am to 7 pm or check our portal and/or website www.060608.it.

Transport and mobility: from Monday 4 May, a new public transport plan is operational. To enhance the offer, 70 buses entered service and, on 15 May, the Barberini station of Metro A also reopened at the entrance. To encourage sustainable mobility, two operators of shared electric scooters with a fleet of around 1,000 vehicles entered service. As regards the Ztl - Limited Traffic Zones, the electronic gates of the historic center, the Trident and Trastevere are deactivated until 30 August.

Culture, shows and museums: from mid-May onwards museums and libraries have gradually reopened. The summer season of the Opera at the Baths of Caracalla has been canceled. Events and shows of any kind, including public and private ones, continue to be suspended.

Parks, gardens and beaches: villas and parks were reopened on 4 May: visitors are requested to respect safety and social distancing measures. The municipal rose garden and the bio park are also accessible again, with a limited number of entrance and new rules for visits. The beaches have also been reopened since 18 May and a strategic plan has been presented, with an app to find out about the availability of beaches, partial pedestrianization of the Ostia promenade, free beach controlled by operators. The play areas are still closed.

Sport: major sporting events have been postponed or canceled. The UEFA Euro 2020 European Football Championship has been rescheduled for the summer of 2021. The planning will remain unchanged: Rome will always host the ceremony and the inaugural match, in addition to the opening concert.
