The route through the museum, inaugurated in 1967, begins with a display of a few items that date to the period of late antiquity, specifically three imperial portraits from the 5th to 6th centuries AD.
The next two rooms are home to a mixture of exhibits from the Longobard era (6-8C AD), including grave goods, arms and a variety of ornaments. Note that the museum only has items that portray the post-classic era, most of which come from areas associated with ancient Rome in central Italy
