Strolling through the vibrant red of Monet’s Poppy Field or in his yellow Haystacks; wake up in Van Gogh's bedroom, meet the peasant women of The Siesta and finish the day immersed in The Starry Night sky.
It is not necessary to dream to live a similar experience, just keep your eyes wide open.
At the Ex Caserma Guido Reni, the Van Gogh + Monet Experience Virtual Art exhibition offers visitors the chance to enter the works of the two great artists through their eyes, thanks to the VR technology and the Oculus Rift, which transport people inside the paintings, in the landscapes and the atmospheres that inspired them.
A journey through time in four stages: we start from the digital reproduction of the most famous paintings by Claude Monet, to then enter his world through virtual reality, to experience that unrepeatable moment of life that the artist has captured and made eternal in his paintings.
Left Monet, Vincent enters the scene with his tormented existence: from the paintings that tell of his commitment to the poorer classes to the letters sent to his brother Theo.
The last stage is the one that gives us the artist's look on the world. Through the Oculus, visitors can feel and see as Van Gogh did, virtually dressing his clothes along the span of a day: from dawn to dusk in the painter's body, in the village of Arles in France, to paint his masterpieces with his own hands.
And after the long virtual journey, the exhibition ends with a didactic and interactive area where, thanks to explanatory tutorials, adults and children can experiment with Van Gogh’s and Monet’s styles, to see first-hand the great masters’ use of colour.
