Famous throughout the world like a true movie star and with a dedicated hashtag, Spelacchio, as the Christmas tree of Piazza Venezia was affectionately renamed by the Romans, will be decorated by IGP Decaux-Netflix for the second consecutive year.
Last year, the inaugural event attracted over 30 thousand onlookers and about 9 thousand people a day honored the new Spelacchio, the new symbol of Christmas.
Go big or go home for the most famous on demand streaming platform in the world. The decorations, 600 red and silver spheres and 60 thousand low consumption LED lights, plus the innovative interaction area dedicated to citizens and tourists, have cost € 376,000 of high technology.
This year, the Abies Nordmanniana type natural fir, over 22 meters high and coming from Cittiglio (Varese), lights up with 80,000 low energy consumption LED lights that will remain lit 24 hours a day. and 1,000 decoration spheres and snow crystals. The predominant colours for lights and decorations are red and gold, with a touch of silver, to enhance the traditional setting. The tree topper, 1.5 meters high, has the shape of a comet.
The interaction area for families and children is inspired by Netflix's first animated film, Klaus. Here you can take pictures and selfies with Jesper and Klaus.
Children can also send the traditional letters to Santa via an interactive post office completely created for them.
