Teatro dell’Opera opens the new ballet season with “Swan Lake”, one of the most famous and beloved classic titles, with the extraordinary production by Benjamin Pech and the musical direction by Nir Kabaretti and Carlo Donadio.
After the great success of the last season, Pech, former étoile of the Opéra de Paris, first maître and assistant to the Ballet Direction of Teatro Costanzi, brings back on stage his refined version of the romantic tale, focused on the eternal conflict between Good and Evil. The dramaturgy of the ballet has been reworked by Pech, but still remains largely faithful to the libretto imagined by Marius Petipa.
Benno, Prince Siegfried, Odette and the deceptive Odile dance on the sublime notes by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij, embodying jealousy, power, love, friendship and betrayal, in a magical and elegant setting with precious decorations by set designer Aldo Buti and the lighting by Vinicio Cheli.
«Swan Lake is perhaps the classic repertoire title par excellence and a fundamental ballet for me and Pech, who were educated to the Nureyev’s version: we danced almost all the roles together. Swan Lake is music and Benjamin Pech gave birth to this version by listening to it and feeling it intensely. Music and history have an indissoluble bond here» declared Eleonora Abbagnato, Director of Teatro dell’Opera Corps de Ballet, talking about this timeless story, represented for the first time at Teatro Costanzi in 1937 and that continues fascinating the audience with its intense symbolism.
