In Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, the Museum of Civilizations contains an extensive archaeological and ethnographic collection, belonging to four different sections: the Museum of Folks Arts and Traditions “Lamberto Loria”, divided into three large thematic areas, with costumes, objects and musical instruments from all over Italy from the 16th to the 20th century, the Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography “Luigi Pigorini”, with a rich ethnographic collection from the five continents and a prehistoric one, exclusively dedicated to human evolution, the Museum of Oriental Art “Giuseppe Tucci” exhibits artefacts from the Near and Middle East, Tibet, Nepal, India, Gandhara, Southeast Asia and the Far East.
In Viale Lincoln, a short distance away, there is the section of the Museum of the Early Middle Ages “Alessandra Vaccaro”, an archaeological museum of the post-classical age, with a collection of objects and materials dating from the 4th to the 14th century mainly of Roman and Central Italy origin.
