Rome illuminated the Pantheon with a new artistic lighting system in a ceremony opened by the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, which paid tribute to the Italian composer Ennio Morricone by performing some of his most famous compositions.

Promoted by Acea and Roma Capitale, the system combines innovation and protection of the cultural heritage. It is part of a wider project to enhance the city’s cultural and art sites, which has more recently concerned landmarks such as the Castle of Julius II in Ostia and the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere and which contributes to increase the charm of Rome.

The old equipment has been replaced with 150 latest generation LED lights, for a total power of 7,500 W, minimizing the aesthetic impact of the projectors and highlighting the architectural characteristics of the monument. The warm and low-consumption lights will enhance, even at night, the grandeur and charm of one of Rome's most symbolic monuments, visited every year by millions of people from all over the world.
