The Auditorium Parco della Musica, one of the most important places in the city’s music scene, will be named after Ennio Morricone, who passed away on the night between 5 and 6 July. The decision was ratified by the July 17 session of the Capitoline assembly, opened on the notes of the soundtrack of Once Upon a Time in America performed by the Santa Cecilia orchestra.

A brilliant composer, conductor and musician, Ennio Morricone was the author of the most beautiful soundtracks of Italian and international films: a long career marked by masterpieces and collaborations that have made history, from Sergio Leone to Gillo Pontecorvo, from Pier Paolo Pasolini to Giuseppe Tornatore, Terrence Malick and Brian De Palma, going through very different genres. Among the many awards, the Academy Honorary Award in 2007 and the Academy Award won in 2016 for The Hateful Eight by Quentin Tarantino, but also three Grammy Awards, three Golden Globes, six Bafta, ten David di Donatello and a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
