Rome’s city museums open for free every first Sunday

Ara Pacis
from 4 June 2020 to 31 August 2020

From Sunday 7 June, the permanent collections and some of the exhibitions held in the museums of the municipality of Rome will open their doors for free to all visitors every first Sunday of the month. Also included are the archaeological areas of the Imperial Forums, from 9.30 am to 7.15 pm, and the archaeological areas at the Circus Maximus (excluding the Circo Maximo Experience) from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm.

As regards exhibitions, the free visit doesn’t include the “Canova. Eternal Beauty” exhibition at Museo di Roma Palazzo Braschi and “C’era una volta Sergio Leone” at the Ara Pacis Museum.

Visitors will have to adhere to new rules and public health measures identified at central and local level: wearing masks, maintaining social distancing (except in the case of members of the same family) and obligatory advance booking by phone at 060608. On arrival at the museum, visitors must wait their turn, show their ticket either on the smartphone or printed off on paper and have their temperature measured by a thermoscanner. Access is not allowed for those with a temperature of, or higher than, 37.5 °C.
