A Renaissance treasure, a unique composition that is a quintessential example of Raphael's unparalleled creativity: part of a commission Raphael received between 1512 and 1514 from the Sienese banker Agostino Chigi to decorate the interior of the church of Santa Maria della Pace, the Sibyls fresco has been restored and given new life.

The restoration work of the Special Superintendency of Rome, carried out with the contribution of Lottomatica, was conducted by the team of Antonio Forcellino, writer, scholar and architect and one of the leading Renaissance experts, and allowed the work to acquire new importance and reading keys

Thanks to the analysis of the differences in the engravings made in the wall, it was possible, for example, to distinguish where Raphael worked directly and where his workshop was involved. The side pilasters were also the subject of particular attention: using grotesques and gold, Raphael createed a work that combines architecture, painting and decoration and which has finally been returned to the public in all its richness.
