New non-repayable grants for commercial businesses

To support and relaunch the tourism and culture sectors, two fundamental drivers for the Italian economy, a package of measures worth three billion euros was approved with the so-called “August Decree”, after listening and evaluating different proposals from categories and sector representatives.

In addition to the suspension of the IMU property tax for accommodation facilities, cinemas and theaters; to supporting workers and granting aid for all accommodation facilities, theaters, cinemas and museums, the Law Decree introduced new non-repayable grants, worth over 500 million euros, for commercial activities open to the public in the historic centers of cities with high tourist vocation, which have suffered a decrease in turnover of at least a third compared to 2019.

29 cities are involved. The list, made on the basis of the relationship between the presence of foreign tourists and residents, naturally also includes Rome, together with Venice, Verbania, Florence, Rimini, Siena, Pisa, Rome, Como, Verona, Milan, Urbino, Bologna, La Spezia , Ravenna, Bolzano, Bergamo, Lucca, Matera, Padua, Agrigento, Syracuse, Ragusa, Naples, Cagliari, Catania, Genoa, Palermo, Turin and Bari.
