Frammenti di Stefano Cigada-Museo di Roma in Trastevere

The original itinerary of the photographic exhibition Frammenti by Stefano Cigada presents a survey of the sculptural heritage of some important museums.

The exhibition testifies his great passion for archeology.

After the experiences gained abroad as a photojournalist in the marine environment, Cigada, once back in his home country, completely changes the subject of his works.

In his photographs, he focuses in particular on ancient statues, highlighting their fragility, damaged and fragmented parts and seeking, as he himself declares "what is missing, what is not seen, looking for the infinite in the fragment".

In museums he visits throughout Europe, the artist immortalizes the statues at different times of the day, in different seasons, when they are hit by sunlight through a window or door, to photograph them without a tripod, without artificial light, with bright lenses, with maximum aperture and shallow depth of field.

The exhibition itinerary, curated by Jill Silverman von Coenegrachts, is divided into three sections and features around 21 images, created with sophisticated printing techniques which show sharp photographs of refined beauty.
