CinemaSpagna - Festival del Cinema spagnolo e Latinoamericano

"Vuelve la magia": the 13th edition of the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival returns to illuminate the beginning of October at the Cinema Farnese in Campo de 'Fiori.

The itinerant event restarted from Sicily, with the second stop in Naples, then it arrives in Rome for the closing appointment. It hosts, as usual, a selection of unreleased titles and first national previews of the latest Spanish and Latin American productions, in the original version subtitled in Italian.

The program includes films such as “O que arde (Fire will come)” by Oliver Laxe, jury prize at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes; “La hija de un ladrón”, successful debut movie by Belén Funes (Goya 2020 Award as Best New Director and Best Actress for Greta Fernández in San Sebastian, Special Jury Mention at the last Taormina festival); the thriller “70 Binladens - 70 Big Ones” by Koldo Serra, director of the famous Netflix series “Money Heist”; “Oscuro y Lucientes” by Samuel Alarcón, which narrates the curious events that originated from the death in exile of the painting genius Francisco Goya.

Among the confirmed unreleased Latin American movies, two interesting premieres: the award-winning Peruvian film “Canción sin nombre” by Melina León and the awaited biopic about the great Astor Piazzola, “Piazzolla, the tango revolution” by Daniel Rosenfeld.

For the great classics, the Festival pays homage to Buñuel for the 50th anniversary of "Tristana", with Catherine Deneuve, Fernando Rey and Franco Nero. It is the summary of all the themes dear to the director: the tangle between evil and good in the weakness of human nature, the futility of the choice between the two opposite poles, the cruel satire of bourgeois respectability.

The winner of the Audience Award, also to be announced in Rome, is dedicated to the memory of Lucia Bosé, the great Italian-Spanish actress who passed away on 23 March. The Prize is awarded by a popular jury: spectators cast their vote on the films selected by the festival during all stages (Messina, Naples and Rome).
