The exhibition of World Press Photo 2018 will be held in Rome at Palazzo delle Esposizioni from the 27th of April to the 27th of May 2018 as the world premiere exhibition in Italy. The World Press Photo is one of the most important awards in the field of photojournalism.

Every year, for over 60 years, an independent jury of international experts, is called upon to express themselves on thousands of requests sent to the World Press Photo Foundation in Amsterdam by photojournalists from around the world.

The jury of the 2018 contest selected nominees in eight categories, including the new environment category. They are 42 photographers from 22 countries: Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, UK, USA and Venezuela. In total, there are 307 nominated photographs across the eight categories.

The World Press Photo of the Year honors the photographer whose visual creativity and skills made a picture that captures or represents an event or issue of great journalistic importance in the last year. Each nominated photograph, including all singles and stories in seven of the eight contest categories (excluding Long-Term Projects) is eligible for the World Press Photo of the Year.

Exhibition promoted by Roma Capitale – Assessorato alla Crescita culturale; devised by World Press Photo Foundation, and organised by Azienda Speciale Palaexpo – Palazzo delle Esposizioni, in conjunction with 10b Photography.
