LA FESTA DI ROMA – 2019 NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATION

fdr_630x473From December 31st at 9 pm to January 1st evening, the Eternal City will turn into a dreamy landscape for the New Year’s Celebration, completely inspired by the Moon, fifty years after the first landing.
70.000 square meters through Piazza dell’Emporio, Giardino degli Aranci, Circus Maximus, Via Petroselli, Lungotevere Aventino, Lungotevere dei Pierleoni and the Tiberine Island will be the urban stages for shows, site specific installations, performances, DJ sets, live music and projections.

The event will start at 9 pm at Circus Maximus where twenty talented kids under 20 of the Piccola Orchestra of Tor Pignattara, whose parents are from 14 different countries of the world, will play with their exceptional sound of “new Italians”.
Kitonb will perform “Carillon, the flight of time” an innovative, exciting and absolutely breathtaking urban theater show between heaven and earth and the special performance-installation “Ode to the moon”.
The multi-talented singer Vinicio Capossela will perform “in defense of the Moon”, followed by the classic midnight toast, exciting fireworks, Dj set and live music to dance until 3 am.

The Celebration will greet New Year’s dawning at Giardino degli Aranci with the sound of a hundred electric guitars Orchestra, while in the early afternoon the event will move to the area between Lungotevere dei Pierleoni and Piazza dell’Emporio, with the colorful and impressive Rome Parade, dance shows and live music, an extraordinary walk through site-specific installations, videomapping and light drawings.

CARTOON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AT VIA DEI CONDOTTI

From November 24, 2018 to January 10, 2019, Via dei Condotti turns on the “CARTOON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS”, the Christmas light decorations inspired by the most loved cartoon characters on Cartoon Network and Boomerang TV channels.

Tom & JerryTweety and Sylvester J. Pussycat Sr., Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girl, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Happos Family and Scooby-Doo are the protagonists of a sparkling and innovative illumination that reinterprets the classic chandeliers with the characters of the show, transforming the famous luxury shopping street in a playful walk with a glittering combination of elegance and modernity.

 100 NATIVITY SCENES IN THE VATICAN

Like every Christmas, from December 7, 2018 to January 13, 2019, in the evocative 100presepiinvaticanosetting of Sala San Pio X, Via della Conciliazione, Vatican City will host the traditional international exhibition “100 Presepi”.

This year, the festival will exhibit Nativity Scenes from Italy and from all over the world, made by artists and artisans, collectors, amateurs, primary and secondary school students, representatives of cultural associations involved in social activities, state and local Institutions, national and foreign museums.

CHRISTMAS TREE IN SAINT PETER’S SQUARE

From December 7th, 2018 until January 13th, 2019, Saint Peter’s Square lights up with the splendid red fir tree donated by Friuli Venezia Giulia, according to THE tradition in memory of the Nativity of the Messiah, together with the representation of the nativity scene at the foot of the Vatican obelisk.

CHRISTMAS TREE AND LIGHTS OF PIAZZA VENEZIA AND VIA DEL CORSO

The Christmas Tree of Piazza Venezia has been lit on December 8th. A magnificent 23-meter spruce from the province of Varese, with 500 silver and red spheres decorated with the faces of the TV series. In addition, 60,000 LED lights with low energy consumption and warm colors, echo the lighting of Via del Corso, the central shopping street of Rome, whose lights, with snowflakes and ice balls, in a long effect of great visual impact, connect Piazza Venezia with Piazza del Popolo.

The Christmas Tree will be illuminated for 24 hours a day and, in one of the flowerbeds of the square, an “interaction” area will be set up where citizens and tourists can take pictures with the background of the Tree and the Altare della Patria.

SWAN LAKE AT TEATRO DELL’OPERA

Lago_dei_cigni_630The Teatro dell’Opera will open the new Ballet Season with a great classic, “Swan Lake”, on the suggestive notes by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij, from December 28th, 2018 to January 6th, 2019.

The Teatro dell’Opera Orchestra, directed by the magistral baton of Nir Kabaretti, will accompany the performance on an extraordinary, original choreography by Benjamin Pech, the former étoile of the Opéra de Paris and currently first maître and assistant to the wonderful Eleonora Abbagnato at the Ballet Direction.
On stage, stars such as Anna Nikulina and Semyon Chudin, both principal dancers of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and Germain Louvet, étoile at the Opéra de Paris.

MOSCOW CLASSICAL RUSSIAN BALLET – THE NUTCRACKER
