Through advanced teaching aids, models, reconstructions and graphics equipment, the museum tries to explain the evolution of our species.

Founded in 1876 by paleontologist Luigi Pigorini, since 1994, the museum presents itself with a new layout: two sections, one dedicated to the Prehistory and Early History and one to Indigenous non-European Cultures.
The evolution of our species is supplemented by a multimedia and digital frame that takes the visitor along a route of setting model that faithfully reproduces various situations of excavation.
